Zeus and Apollo

Long ago, Zeus and his son Apollo lived on a big mountain. Apollo loved shooting arrows, and he was very good at it. One day Apollo turned to his father Zeus and spoke happily. "I am the best archer in the world!" he said. Zeus smiled and offered his son Apollo a contest.

Apollo pulled his bow at once and shot his arrow into the sky. The arrow flew very far and fell under a big tree. Apollo laughed with great confidence and felt very proud. Now it was his father Zeus's turn.

Zeus took one big step and reached the end of the world. Then he pulled his bow and shot his arrow beyond the sky. The arrow fell much farther than Apollo's arrow. Apollo saw his father's power and understood his defeat. We must never put ourselves above other people. Every man meets his match.
