The Young Men and the Butcher

One sunny day two young men entered a butcher's shop. The shop had fresh and tasty meat. The butcher turned away and went on with his work. They looked at each other and planned a trick.

One young man took a big piece from the table. He quickly put the meat into his friend's pocket. The butcher turned back and did not see the meat. The old butcher asked the men about the meat.

The first said, "My pocket has no meat." The second said, "I did not take the meat." The butcher understood their game at once. The clever butcher looked at these cunning young men.

He said, "You can trick me, but God sees everything." The two men felt ashamed and gave the meat back.

Lies and tricks always bring shame to a person. Truth will always come to light.
