The Wolves and the Sheep
A long time ago a big flock of sheep lived in a green valley. Brave and strong guard dogs protected the flock every day. Clever wolves lived in the nearby forest, and they were always hungry. The wolves wanted to eat the sheep, but they feared the dogs. So the clever wolves made a dangerous plan. One day the wolf leader came to the flock with a white flag.
He began to speak to the sheep in a sweet voice. "We really want to be your friends and live in peace," he said. "Our only problem is those noisy dogs beside you," he added. "Give us the dogs, and we will never hurt you." The simple sheep believed the sweet words at once and were glad. They sent the dogs away and made a deal with the wolves.
Now the sheep grazed alone, without any protection. When the dogs were gone, the wolves showed their true faces. The wolf pack came out of the forest and ran at the sheep. The poor sheep could not defend themselves and became easy prey. They understood their big mistake, but now it was much too late. Sweet words from an enemy take away your guardians and bring great disaster. The wolf changes his coat, but he never changes his nature.
