The Wolf Who Played Doctor
One day an old donkey walked through green woods. The donkey was very tired and wanted to rest. Suddenly a clever wolf came out of the bushes. The wolf was hungry and saw a tasty meal. In a sweet voice he called himself a doctor. The donkey understood the danger but showed no fear.
The donkey limped and lifted his back leg. "A very sharp thorn went into my foot," he said. "Pull out this thorn before you eat me," he added. "Or the thorn will hurt your throat too." The wolf liked the idea and bent down quickly. He looked at the donkey's foot with great care.
The donkey waited and kicked with great power. The strong kick hit the wolf's jaw and mouth. His teeth broke and he fell down in pain. The clever donkey ran fast and left the forest. The wolf paid a heavy price for his trick. Never believe an enemy's sweet words and always stay careful. The wolf changes his coat, but not his nature.
