The Wolf and the Lamb
On a sunny spring morning, the little lamb was eating grass by the stream. The sweet water of the stream sang happily through the forest. The little lamb was very thirsty and came close to the water. Just then a hungry wolf came down from the hill. The wolf saw the tender lamb and wanted to eat it at once. But first the wolf wanted to find a good excuse.
"Why do you make my water dirty?" the wolf shouted in a hard voice. "But sir, the water runs down from you to me," the lamb said with fear. This clever answer made the wolf angry, and he found another excuse. "Last year you said bad things about me," he said. "Last year I was not even born," the lamb answered in surprise. "Then it was surely your brother," the wolf growled.
"I do not have a single brother," the lamb said and defended himself. The bad wolf did not want to listen anymore. "You or your family, it is the same," he said and jumped on the lamb. The poor lamb was right, but it could not escape from the wolf. Against bad people, being right is sometimes not enough to protect us. The wolf changes his fur, but he never changes his heart.
