The Wolf and the Goat
On a sunny spring day a hungry wolf looked for food in the mountains. A little goat appeared on top of a high and steep rock. The goat happily ate the fresh green grass on the rock. The wolf saw the goat, but he could not climb the high rock. So a cunning plan came into his mind. The wolf called the goat from below with a sweet voice.
"Dear goat, my friend, are you not afraid of falling up there?" he said. "Come down here to me, because the grass is very nice here." "The grass down here is sweeter and much softer too." The goat was clever and understood the wolf at once. The wolf did not want to protect her; he wanted to fill his stomach. The goat looked down carefully from the edge of the rock.
The goat smiled calmly and answered the wolf. "Thank you for your worry about me, my cunning friend." "But you are not thinking about me; you are thinking about your stomach." "I prefer to stay on this high rock and eat my grass safely." The wolf saw that his trick did not work and he went away. We must never believe the sweet words of bad people. A smiling face is not always a friendly face.
