The Weasel and Aphrodite
A weasel in the forest loved a young man. She begged Aphrodite, "Make me a beautiful woman." Aphrodite felt sorry for the little weasel. She changed the weasel into a lovely girl. The young man saw the girl and loved her. Together they prepared a big wedding.
That evening Aphrodite wanted to test the girl. She put a small mouse on the floor. The mouse ran fast over the carpet. The girl saw the mouse and forgot her human form. She jumped off the bed and chased the mouse.
Aphrodite saw the hunter inside the girl and grew sad. She changed the girl back into a weasel. The weasel understood her mistake and went back to the forest. They understood: a new face is not a new heart.
They saw it: the skin changes, but the nature stays.
A leopard cannot change its spots.
