The Wasp and the Snake
Long ago, a green snake lived beside an old forest with cool streams. All day the snake moved slowly and lay in the sun on big rocks. One day the cheerful and clever wasp of the forest saw the snake. Without any reason, the little wasp landed on the snake's head. With its bright sting it began to sting that head very hard. The snake felt a great pain and shook its head quickly.
But the clever wasp never left the snake's head. The snake went into the bushes, but the wasp did not fall. "Please, leave my head, it hurts so much!" the snake shouted. The wasp only laughed and said, "I will never leave you alone!" Every minute the pain of the snake grew bigger. At last the snake got very angry and full of rage.
It wanted to destroy its enemy and forgot even its own life. The snake saw a heavy cart wheel very near the road. Quickly it put its head under that big wheel. The heavy wheel rolled over the snake and the wasp. The snake killed its enemy, but it died too. A person who acts in anger hurts the enemy and also himself. Sharp vinegar harms its own jar.
