The Two Enemies
Long ago, two men lived beside a big sea. The two men never liked each other and were enemies. One day they both got on the same small boat. One man sat in front, the other man sat behind.
Suddenly a very big storm came over the sea. The wind blew hard and water came into the boat. The man behind asked the captain a curious question. "Which side of the boat will sink first?" he said. "The front of the boat will sink first," the captain answered.
The man behind heard this news and was very happy. He thought: "My enemy will sink before me!" He forgot his own danger and only laughed at his enemy.
But very soon the whole boat went down into the water. Wishing evil to another only brings harm to yourself. Curses, like chickens, come home to roost.
