The Trumpeter
A trumpeter of an army was taken prisoner by enemy soldiers on the battlefield. To save his life, the trumpeter begged "Do not kill me, I never took a sword in my hand, I did not wound anyone; I only blew my trumpet." Looking at the trumpeter, the enemy commander said "Your punishment is heavier than those who actually swing swords; because you did not strike a single sword, but with the trumpet you blew, you drove thousands of people to kill and incited them." Understanding that inciting and encouraging war is as heavy a crime as fighting in person, the trumpeter was punished.
Agitators who incite and encourage evil, war, hatred, and violence are as much and even more responsible as those who actually perform the act. Those who drive masses to disaster with their words and calls cannot claim to be guiltless. Incitement and causing strife is the greatest crime dragging societies to disaster. The responsibility of words and calls is as heavy as the act itself.
One who incites and encourages war is guiltier than the one actually fighting. An inciter is guiltier than the actual doer. Spreading hatred with words brings disaster. One driving masses to disaster is not innocent.
Incitement is the heaviest crime. The responsibility of a call is heavy. The cause of strife does not go unpunished.
