The Travellers and the Axe

Two friends walk together on a long road. The weather is fine and the road is calm. Suddenly they see a bright axe by the road. The two friends run quickly to the axe. The first man picks up the axe with joy.

The man tells his friend, "I found a great axe!" His friend answers him at once. "We are friends, so say 'we found it'," he says. But the first man does not want to share. Soon an angry man comes up behind them.

The angry man shouts, "Who stole my axe?" The first man is afraid and says, "Now we are lost!" His friend answers, "Not we, you are lost." Share your joy, or you face your trouble alone. A friend in need is a friend indeed.
