The Tortoise and the Eagle

Once upon a time, a little tortoise lived beside an old forest with cool waters. This tortoise walked slowly on the green grass and always looked at the sky. When she saw the birds among the blue clouds, she wanted to fly like them. On top of the high cliffs, a brave and strong eagle had his nest. Every day the tortoise watched this beautiful eagle with great admiration.

One day the tortoise took all her courage and climbed up the high cliff. When she reached the eagle, she said, "I want to learn to fly." The wise eagle smiled and said, "But you have no wings." The tortoise did not give up and promised the eagle bright seashells. The eagle warned her many times, but the curious tortoise did not change her mind.

At last the eagle took her in his strong claws and flew up to the sky. The wind hit the tortoise's face, and below the green forest looked very small. When they were high enough, the eagle slowly let the tortoise go. The tortoise wanted to flap her wings with joy, but she fell down fast.

She fell on a hard rock, her shell cracked and she felt a great pain. At last she understood her big mistake, because she did not accept her own nature. Every creature must accept its own abilities and build its dreams on them. Stretch your arm no further than your sleeve will reach.
