The Thrush

A small, sweet thrush lived in a beautiful forest. This bird loved the sweet juniper berries very much. Every morning it flew to the tree and ate the tasty berries. Those berries were the best food in the world for it. One day the thrush sat on the branches again.

The berries tasted wonderful, and the bird only ate. The bird looked only at the food and saw no danger. At that moment a hunter put a trap under the tree. The bird ate the sweet berries, and the trap caught it suddenly. The little bird wanted to escape, but it was too late.

It cried and it talked sadly to itself. "I lost my freedom for one sweet berry," it said. It was greedy and careless, and now it was very sorry. Greed and carelessness bring danger to everyone. It is no use crying over spilt milk.
