The Thieves and the Rooster

At night two thieves entered a big farm. The thieves found nothing valuable in the house. They only saw a small rooster. They put the rooster in a sack and ran. The thieves went to an old forest house.

They were very hungry and wanted the rooster. The frightened rooster began to beg the thieves. "Do not kill me, I help people," he said. "Every morning I wake people up early," he added. These words made the thieves very angry.

"You wake people, and our work fails," they said. "Because we work in the dark!" they shouted. At last they did not listen and ate him. Your good deeds may not please bad people. People chase the honest man out of every village.
