The Swallow and the Crow
A swallow perched next to a crow and began boasting with its ornate feathers. The swallow said to the crow "You have pitch-black and ugly feathers, whereas my feathers are elegant and colorful." The crow smiled calmly and said "Those colorful feathers of yours are useful only in warm spring, when winter comes you flee; whereas my black feathers withstand the harshest winter and storm." The swallow understood that resisting difficult conditions and being permanent is superior to ornate appearance.
Elegant appearances that shine only in suitable and comfortable conditions provide no benefit in tough and difficult times. True value lies in being able to face difficulties and being resistant to storms. One should not be deceived by seasonal pomp and base upon durability. Ornament is temporary, durability is permanent.
Durability to difficult conditions is essential, not seasonal brilliance. Shining only on good days extinguishes on hard days. Durability is superior to ornate appearance. Feathers resisting the storm are real.
