The Sun and the Wind
The sun and the wind entered into a fierce argument over which of them was stronger. Seeing a traveler wearing a coat pass by, the wind proposed a contest to prove his strength. "Whoever forces that man to take off his coat first wins," declared the wind, blowing with all his might. The harder the wind blew, the colder the man felt, wrapping his coat tighter and buttoning it up.
No matter how fiercely the wind tried, the man held his coat tighter until the wind gave up. When it was the sun's turn, he emerged from behind clouds and gently spread his warm rays. Warming up, the man first unbuttoned his coat, then took it off and set it aside. The sun smiled, proving that gentle warmth and kindness achieve goals far easier than force.
Violence and force increase resistance; gentle words and kindness overcome obstacles. A gentle tongue turns away wrath. Nothing good is achieved by force. Kindness and warmth defeat harshness.
Gentleness is superior to severity. Approaching with goodness yields results. Harsh winds cannot remove a coat.
