The Statue of Hermes for Sale
In a small town lived an old sculptor. He made a beautiful Hermes statue from wood. He took the statue to the big market. The market was full, but nobody bought it. The old man shouted, "This statue brings luck!"
A curious customer stopped and looked at it. The customer asked, "Does this statue bring riches?" "Yes, it gives people wealth," the sculptor said. He asked, "Then why do you sell it?" The sculptor was quiet, and then he answered.
"I need money, but the god helps slowly." Everyone laughed at this very honest answer. One man liked the joke and bought it. Truth always comes to light in the end. Lies have short legs.
