The Snake, the Weasel and the Mice
A cunning snake lived on a big old farm. A quick and hungry weasel also lived there. Both of them wanted to hunt the little mice. They fought every day and never agreed. The mice looked very happy about this situation.
One day the snake and the weasel fought again. The two strong enemies attacked fiercely and made much noise. The mice got excited and came out of their holes. "Our enemies are fighting, so now we are safe!" they said. The little mice began to dance and sing with joy. They even walked bravely very close to the two animals.
But suddenly the two stopped and saw the mice. The two hunters jumped on the little mice at once. They forgot their own war and hunted together immediately. Sadly, the hunters caught every careless mouse very easily.
The mice understood their big mistake too late. Never forget caution when two strong enemies fight.
When elephants fight, the grass suffers.
