The Snails in the Fire
A farm boy made a fire by the forest. He collected snails and put them on the fire. Soon the heat reached the shells. The snails felt the fire and made noises. Small sounds crackled inside the flames.
The boy listened and looked in surprise. He thought the snails were singing. He laughed and leaned over the fire. "Your houses burn, and you sing?" he said. This was very strange to him.
The poor snails stayed in the hot fire. The boy thought about his funny words. He understood that joy in danger is silly.
They saw that a careless heart in disaster is wrong.
Do not fiddle while your house burns.
