The Sick Crow and Its Mother
A young crow caught in a severe illness pleaded for help from his mother while writhing on his deathbed. The sick crow said "Mommy, please go to all altars and temples, plead to the gods and vow a sacrifice for me." His mother crying said "My child, while you were living you stole the offering meat from all temples, now which god will accept prayers for you?" Because the crow raided altars in temples throughout his life, he left no sacred authority to take refuge in during hard days.
Those who do evil to everyone and trample sacred values during health find no mercy and help in moments of disaster. Humans and divine justice remember past disrespects and injustices in times of crisis. Being able to see help in hard days depends on living respectfully and honestly in good days. Whoever makes an enemy of everyone remains deprived of a harbor to take refuge in during their narrowest time.
One does not expect help in hard days from someone they wronged while living. Whoever does evil finds no mercy. Whoever tramples the sacred finds no refuge. Past disrespect closes the door of help.
What is sown in good days is reaped in hard days. Whoever alienates everyone dies alone. Respect and honesty save lives.
