The Shipwrecked Man and the Sea
A rich merchant sailed to far countries on a big ship. One night a very strong storm suddenly began. Huge waves broke the ship, and it sank fast. The merchant swam hard and reached the beach of an island. He was very tired, so he lay on the warm sand and slept. In the morning the man opened his eyes and looked around.
The sea now looked calm and deep blue. The merchant grew very angry and shouted at the sea. "You trick people with your pretty face, then you sink ships!" he said. The sea heard his words and took a human voice. "You are angry with me for nothing, my friend," it answered. "I am always this calm, and I hurt nobody."
"The hard winds make me angry and build those huge waves." "If the wind does not blow, I stay peaceful like this." "After an accident, blame the wind, not the sea." The merchant heard these wise words and felt ashamed. Now he never blamed anyone before he knew the true reason. When we have a problem, we must first find its real source. When no wind blows, no leaf moves.
