The Sheep and the Dog
A deceitful dog went to court claiming that an innocent sheep owed him a sack of barley. When the sheep denied the debt, the dog brought the wolf, jackal, and hawk he hired with bribes to court as false witnesses. Believing the false statements of the false witnesses, the judge found the sheep guilty and decided that he pay the debt. In the middle of winter, the sheep was forced to shear and sell the wool on his back to pay the fake debt and trembled in the cold.
In environments where justice is corrupted and false witnesses and liars are respected, the innocent become victimized. Decisions obtained through false testimony and fraud turn justice into a tool of oppression. It is of vital importance for the judge and court to be impartial and alert to break the game of liars. If the innocent's cry and right are devoured, justice collapses in that society.
A court set up with false witnesses becomes a tool of oppression. False testimony victimizes the innocent. Corruption of justice is a disaster. A false witness usurps the right.
An impartial judge should not fall for lies. The right of the innocent must not be devoured. A fair court relies on honesty.
