The Rose and the Amaranth
A sweet-smelling red rose and a never-fading marigold bloomed side by side in the garden. Envying the rose, the never-fading flower said "People admire your color and scent, how happy you are!" Drooping its petals sadly, the rose said "O neighbor! My beauty lasts only a few days, then I fade; whereas you never fade and preserve your beauty forever." Upon these words of the rose, the never-fading flower understood how precious permanence is rather than momentary pomp.
Even if temporary and momentary brilliance dazzles the eyes, humble but permanent values are always more precious. Leaving permanent works and values enduring time is far superior to momentary fames. Beauty and fame fade away, only permanent virtues remain behind. It is essential not to be deceived by momentary applause and build permanent values.
