The Race of the Hare and the Wolf
Once upon a time, at the edge of an old forest where cool waters flowed, there lived a cheerful rabbit known for his cunning. Bu gür ormanın derinliklerinde iseHerkese korku salan, sivri dişli ve kibirli bir kurdun gölgesi gezinirdi. Among the trees that held every shade of green, a peaceful life fed by the whisper of the wind went on and on. The lovely inhabitants of the forest, because they feared the brute force of the wolf, always preferred to stay out of his way. But the brave rabbit believed with all his heart that the mind was superior even to the greatest strength. While the golden yellow rays of the sun warmed the meadow, the two animals came face to face on a narrow path. The arrogant wolf, looking over the small body of the rabbit with scornful eyes, burst into loud laughter.
"How can a frail creature like you walk so freely in the same forest as I?" he roared. The rabbit, without losing his composure at all, pricked up his ears and smiled cheerfully. "You boast of your strength, but running fast is the work not only of the legs but also of the mind," he said. The wolf, enraged by these words, proposed to the rabbit a race that would run all the way to the peak of the mountain in order to prove his strength. According to the condition of the race, whoever chose the most correct way instead of following the bends of the path would win. The moment the whistle blew, the wolf hurled himself forward with all his might and raised a cloud of dust. The rabbit, however, instead of running blindly, surveyed the short cut bush trails and the steep rocks of the path.
While the wolf was advancing swiftly on the straight road, because of his excessive confidence he lost his direction and plunged into the dense bushes. The little rabbit, however, thanks to his nimble mind and his lightness, slipped between the rocks and advanced toward his goal with sure steps. When the wolf, out of breath, reached the peak, he saw the rabbit there calmly gnawing a carrot. The enormous wolf, who trusted in his muscular strength, had to accept with astonishment the victory of the little rabbit who used his mind. From that day on, no living creature in the forest judged anyone by looking only at his outward appearance or his size. Brute force may always feel fast, but the only key that leads to the goal is the mind and strategy. The strength of the arm defeats one person, the strength of the mind defeats a thousand people.
