The Overfed Hen
An old woman had a beautiful white hen. Every day the hen walked happily around the farm. Every morning the woman went to the henhouse for eggs. Every day the hen gave her owner a big fresh egg.
One day the woman wanted more eggs. She decided to give her hen much more grain. She thought, "More grain, two eggs a day!" Every hour the woman gave the hen corn and wheat.
The hen ate all the grain at once and got very fat. Now the fat hen walked around the henhouse with difficulty. The hen got sick from all that food. Now it did not give even one egg a day.
The woman saw her big mistake, but it was too late. She wanted more, and she lost her one egg too.
