The One-Eyed Doe
A one-eyed deer lived in a green forest. Every day it ate grass by the sea. It watched the forest with its good eye. It thought hunters came from the forest. It turned its blind eye to the sea.
The sea looked safe and it had no fear. One day a boat came over the sea. The hunters in the boat saw the deer. They came near the deer very quietly. The deer saw nothing and did not run.
The hunters hit the deer with an arrow. The deer fell down and felt very sad. The danger came from the safe side. Danger sometimes comes from an unexpected side. Still waters run deep.
