The Mule

Level B1 · 190 words

The Mule

A mule fed with plenty of barley felt very strong and fast, running with enthusiasm in the meadows. The mule boasted "My father is a fast and noble racehorse, and I am fast and noble just like him." Continuing to run at headlong speed, after a while the mule became tired, breathless, and slowed down. Exhausted when his strength failed, the mule remembered that his real father was not a fast horse, but a humble donkey carrying heavy loads.

Getting caught in a temporary pride, when the mule remembered his real lineage, he stopped being arrogant and bowed his head. No matter how high a person rises, they should not forget their roots and real identity, nor succumb to false pride. Temporary achievements and opportunities should not blind a person; they should not prevent accepting one's lineage and reality. Those who deny their origin suffer great embarrassment when faced with realities in hard times.

A person should not forget their origin and must accept reality. Whoever denies their origin is disgraced. False pride quickly extinguishes. Temporary power should not blind the eye.

Realities come out in hard moments. One who forgets their root loses their way. The humble does not suffer embarrassment.
