The Monkey's Twin Babies
Long ago, in a deep forest full of bright flowers, a mother monkey lived. This sweet monkey soon had two little twin babies. The mother loved one baby very much and always carried him in her arms. The other baby she never noticed, and she left him alone. She kissed her favourite baby and gave him the sweetest fruits.
One day a big and terrible hunter came into the forest. The mother monkey was very afraid and started to run away. She pressed her dear baby to her chest and held him tight. The other baby climbed alone onto his mother's back. The mother monkey climbed quickly to the high branches of the trees. Because of fear she squeezed her dear baby harder and harder.
"I will never leave you, my sweet baby," she whispered. But she squeezed him so much that the little baby could not breathe. On a safe branch the mother monkey stopped and looked at her arms. Her favourite baby was not breathing, and a great sadness filled her heart. She wanted to protect him, but she hurt him without knowing. The forgotten baby on her back held her strongly, and he was alive. The mother monkey understood her mistake, but it was already too late.
Too much and wrong love sometimes brings harm, not kindness, to the ones we love. The eye we guard the most is the eye the dust finds first.
