The Monkey and the Fisherman
Long ago a monkey lived beside an old forest with cool waters. All day this curious monkey jumped in the high branches and watched around. The clear water of the river shone like silver under the bright sun. Every morning an old fisherman came to the bank and threw his net into the water. From a high branch the monkey followed every move of the fisherman. At noon the old fisherman left his net on the bank and went to eat.
When the fisherman walked away, the curious monkey climbed down at once. He said to himself, "Fishing looks like a very easy job." The monkey took the heavy net and walked to the river. The net was very heavy, but the monkey wanted to work like a master. With all his strength he threw the net towards the cool water. But the net wrapped around his arms and his legs.
The monkey lost his balance and fell fast into the deep water. Caught in the wet net, the poor animal swam slowly to the bank. At last he came out of the water, but he was wet and very tired. He was angry with himself, because he began a job without knowledge. Nobody should think that only watching makes a master's work easy. Never play the master in a craft you never learned as an apprentice.
