The Master and the Sailors

A master of a house generously hosted sailors fleeing from a storm coming from the harbor. Throughout the night, sailors told horrible stories of giant waves in the open sea and sinking ships. The master of the house was so affected by the frightening stories told that he began trembling in his house after the sailors left. When curtains moved with a light wind blowing through the window, the man shouted "The storm in the sea has come here!" and fled the house crying out.

Listening excessively to exaggerated fear and danger stories experienced by others makes a person uneasy even in their own safe home. Carrying others' disaster experiences into one's own life and being delusional disrupts peace. Panicking with others' fears while living in a safe environment is foolishness. It is essential to distinguish between real danger and delusion.

Do not become uneasy in your own home with others' fear stories. Delusion scares a person in safety. Let others' fear not be a burden to you. Mistaking a light wind for a storm is delusion.

One does not panic in a safe home. Hearsay fear disrupts peace. Staying calm protects the mind.
