The Man and the Lion Traveling Together
Long ago, a man and a lion traveling together began arguing about superiority. They passed by a marble stone statue standing by the roadside. The statue depicted a strong man strangling a giant lion. The man proudly pointed to the statue and said that man was superior and stronger than the lion.
The lion smiled calmly, examined the statue, and replied to the man. "Because a human made this statue, it showed the human as superior," said the lion. "If lions could make statues, you would see many men crushed beneath lions," he added. Humans always praise and justify themselves in their own works.
Biased evaluations and evidence produced by oneself are not enough to prove true superiority. Biased testimony is not accepted. Everyone looks good in their own mirror. If the plaintiff is the judge, justice is not served. He who boasts of his own statue is mistaken. An artist's statue does not change the truth.
A person who praises their own style cannot be objective. True superiority lies in action, not in words. Everyone is the hero of their own story. He who looks with a biased eye cannot see the truth. Do not boast by looking at your own work.
