The Man and the Flea

Long ago, beside an old forest where cool waters flowed, there lived an old man. This man spent peaceful days alone in his wooden house. He loved resting in his soft bed and listening to the sweet songs of birds. On a hot summer night, the man calmly lay down in his bed once again.

Just as he was falling asleep, he felt a sudden and sharp pain in his leg. Quickly lighting his candle, he pulled aside his quilt. On the bed was a tiny and nimble flea. Angry, the man raised his finger and immediately caught the little flea. Trembling with fear, the flea began to beg the man.

"Please do not kill me, I am a very small creature," it said. "I cannot do you great harm, I only cause a little itch," it added. The old man looked at the flea and slowly shook his head. "There is no such thing as small or big harm," he replied. The man did not believe the little flea's words at all. He crushed that little pest disrupting his comfort between his fingers.

Then taking a deep breath, he lay back down in his bed. After that night, he slept long and peaceful sleeps in his house. Even a small harm is enough to ruin a person's peace of mind. Nip the evil in the bud.
