The Lions and the Hares
Once upon a time, in a peaceful land where broad meadows and lush forests embraced, lived various animals. Tiny rabbits living in this beautiful land always hopped joyfully and enjoyed fresh grass. However, the shadow of majestic lions was felt every moment in the depths of the forest, terrifying other animals. One day, the oldest rabbit in the forest decided to gather all animals under the big oak tree. His goal was to clearly state that everyone in the forest should have equal rights and to ensure justice.
After the crowd gathered, the brave rabbit stepped onto a high stone and began to speak. "O inhabitants of the forest, we all live together under the same sky in these fertile lands," he said. "From now on, we want everyone to be governed by equal rules and have the same rights, not just the strong." The little animals enthusiastically applauded these brave words and let out shouts of joy. Right at that moment, a majestic lion stepping slowly from among the trees stepped forward.
The lion fixed his sharp gaze on the rabbit and began to speak in his deep, loud voice. "Your words are truly very nice and sound quite pleasant, my dear rabbit friends," said the lion. "However, you forget that you don't have sharp claws and strong teeth to support these beautiful ideas." Upon these words, the deep silence in the square was suddenly split in two by the whisper of the wind. The rabbits understood at that moment that beautiful words and wishes alone were not enough.
They realized that calls for justice not supported by power remained helpless in the face of great dangers. Retreating silently, the rabbits thought they needed to develop intellect and solidarity first to protect their rights. The other inhabitants of the forest also dispersed, writing this important lesson in a corner of their minds. Empty beautiful words fly away if there is no power or solid foundation behind them. Actions speak louder than words.
