The Jackdaw with Borrowed Feathers
One day the forest holds a big contest. The bird king will choose the prettiest bird. A small jackdaw wants to join the contest. But the jackdaw hates his own black feathers. The jackdaw collects colorful feathers from the ground.
He puts on peacock and parrot feathers. Now he feels very beautiful and special. On the contest day he walks out proudly. The king likes him and picks him first. The other birds are very surprised and angry.
They know their own feathers at once. One by one, the birds take their feathers. The jackdaw stays alone with his black feathers. It is wrong to boast about another's beauty. Fine feathers do not make fine birds.
