The Hen and the Swallow
One day a sweet hen walked around the farm. Among the bushes she saw strange, cold eggs. They were really a dangerous snake's eggs. But the kind hen did not know this. She decided to warm them like her lonely babies. She sat on the eggs with love and curiosity. A clever swallow in the sky saw the hen.
The swallow landed at once on a branch nearby. He looked at her and asked, "What are you doing?" "Why are you raising these dangerous snake eggs?" he said. The hen smiled and said, "They are only helpless eggs." The swallow shook his head and spoke with worry. "When they grow, they will hurt you first," he said. "Helping dangerous animals never brings you anything good."
The hen did not believe the clever swallow's words. A few days later the eggs broke one by one. Not sweet chicks but poisonous snakes came out. As soon as they were born, they attacked the hen. The hen ran away in great fear. Too late, she understood the swallow was right. Helping bad creatures always brings harm to people. Feed a crow and it will peck out your eye.
