The Hedgehog's Spines
A kind but naive man brought a hedgehog home from the forest. He brushed and oiled its spines day and night to make them soft. But the spines stayed hard, and the hedgehog grew tired, sad, and sick. The man realized the spines protected it and returned it to the forest.
What looks hard to us can be a shield for someone else. Trying to change a living being to suit our wishes only harms it. Good intentions alone are not enough; first we must understand others. Loving means accepting a living being as it is and protecting it.
What is different is not bad. Every living being has its own beauty. A hedgehog's spines are its shield. First understand, then help.
Forced help is no help. Respect every living being. Accept every living being as it is.
