The Goat and the Vine
A goat fleeing from hunters' dogs hid under a green and lush-leaved vine tree. The dense leaves of the vine completely hid the goat from the hunters' eyes and the goat escaped death. However, as soon as the danger passed, the goat acted ungratefully and began greedily gnawing the fresh leaves of the vine that saved him. As the goat ate the leaves, the cover opened; returning hunters saw the exposed goat and shot him with an arrow.
Those who act ungratefully and try to harm guardians who provide shelter, help, and save lives destroy their own protective shield by their own hands. Responding to kindness with ungratefulness is inviting disaster. Whoever destroys the cover concealing them becomes a target for the enemy. Ungratefulness is the most dangerous arrow that will strike its owner.
Whoever is ungrateful to the guardian they take refuge in finds disaster. Ungratefulness destroys the protective shield. One harming their shelter is left in the open. Ungratefulness to kindness brings disaster.
One eating their cover becomes prey. An ungrateful person pulls their own rope. Respect for the guardian saves life.
