The Goat and the Shepherd
Long ago, on the foothills of high mountains, there lived a kind-hearted shepherd grazing his flock. As the sun set, the shepherd gathered his sheep and goats and began leading them to the fold. However, a naughty and stubborn goat stayed in the pasture to eat fresh grass. The shepherd whistled and shouted loudly to call the goat. Even though the stubborn goat heard the shepherd's voice, it did not move from its spot at all.
Seeing the sky darken, the shepherd grew impatient and picked up a small stone from the ground. The shepherd threw the stone toward the goat, and the stone broke one of the goat's horns. Scared and regretful, the shepherd ran to the goat and began begging it. "Please do not tell our master about this event, or he will fire me from my job," said the shepherd. Shaking its head in pain, the broken-horned goat answered the shepherd.
"Even if I remain silent, this broken horn of mine will tell the truth to everyone," said the goat. "It is impossible to try to hide mistakes that are too obvious to be concealed," it added. When evidence stands out in the open, lying and hiding the mistake will bring no benefit to a person. When a person makes a mistake, they should be honest and admit their error. Truth will out.
You cannot cover the sun with mud. A liar's candle burns only until bedtime. Truth has a habit of coming out sooner or later. Honesty is the best policy.
