The Gardener and His Dog
Once an old gardener had a sweet dog. Each day he grew beautiful flowers and vegetables. All day the dog ran and played happily. One day the dog fell into a well. The gardener heard the barking and ran over.
The frightened dog splashed in the cold water. The gardener reached down to save his dog. But the scared dog bit his master's hand. His hand hurt badly and he pulled back. In pain he looked at the ungrateful dog.
The gardener was very angry at the dog. He left the dog there and walked away. The dog understood his mistake too late. Pay kindness with evil, and you stay alone. Feed the crow and it pecks your eye.
