The Frogs and Zeus

Free frogs lived in a wide marsh. Bored of their free life, they called to the sky. "We want a king for us," they said. Zeus smiled at this wish. He threw a big log into the marsh. The log fell into the water with a loud noise. The frogs were afraid and hid in the mud.

After a while they saw the still log. They came out of the water and jumped on it. "This log does not move!" they complained. "Give us a hard and strong king," they said. Zeus was very angry at this greed. He sent a cruel stork to the marsh.

The stork came down and ate the frogs one by one. The frogs trembled and missed their free days. But now it was too late for regret. The stork went on hunting frogs in the marsh.

They saw the value of freedom too late.
