The Frog and the Mouse
A treacherous frog offered the mouse he befriended to cross to the opposite shore of the lake. The frog tied the mouse's foot tightly to his own foot with a string saying "Let us not separate on the way." Coming to the middle of the lake, the frog maliciously dived to the bottom trying to drown the mouse in the water. While the mouse was struggling on the surface of the water, a kite bird passing above saw the struggling mouse, glided down, caught both the frog and the mouse tied with the string, and carried them to its nest.
Those who set traps for others bind themselves with the strings of that trap as well and fall into the pit they dug. Fraud and treachery drag not only the victim but also the designer of the fraud into disaster. Plans made with bad intentions result in the destruction of both sides by a third power. Treachery carries its own punishment within itself.
A trap set for evil catches the one who set it along with it. You fall into the pit you dug. Treachery catches the deceitful. One wanting to drown another drowns themselves.
Bad intention brings disaster. One setting a trap gets entangled in string. Fraud strikes its owner.
