The Fox and the Monkey
At a gathering of forest animals, a monkey who performed funny dances and entertained everyone was chosen as king of the forest. Envious of the monkey becoming king, the cunning fox wanted to prove that he lacked the capacity and wisdom to rule as king. Showing the monkey delicious food he saw in a hunter's trap, the fox said "This is a treasure fit for a king." Prideful and rushing to the food, the monkey devoid of cunning got caught in the hunter's trap.
While the monkey shouted at the fox to save him, the fox laughed and threw his inadequacy in his face. "How can a fool who cannot even free their own head from a trap rule and manage animals?" he said. Unqualified and incompetent people pursuing ambition for office brings disaster to both themselves and those they rule. Those without wisdom and competence are humiliated at the first trap when they come to power.
An incompetent person cannot be a ruler. An incompetent king is disgraced in a trap. A foolish leader brings disaster. Office requires wisdom and talent.
One who cannot govern themselves cannot govern others. Not every creature with fur can be a king. Cunning cannot cover up a lack of wisdom.
