The Fox and the Lamb
A little lamb ate grass in a green meadow near the forest. A hungry fox came out from behind the trees. He came near the lamb and looked for an excuse. "Last year you insulted me by the river," he said. The little lamb answered in surprise. "Last year I was not even born," it said. "I am only a three-month-old lamb," it added.
The fox quickly thought of another excuse. "You eat the fresh grass in my own field," he said. The lamb calmly shook its head. "I do not eat grass yet," it said. "I only drink my mother's milk," it answered.
The fox had no excuses left and roared with anger. "Even without an excuse, I will eat you," he said. The fox jumped furiously on the little lamb. The lamb saw the danger and ran away fast. It reached the shepherd and was safe.
They saw it: bad people always find an excuse to do harm.
Any excuse will serve a tyrant.
