The Fox and the Hedgehog
Once upon a time, at the edge of an old forest where cool waters flowed, lived a sly fox. Every day, this fox wandered among the bushes, searching for food while singing cheerful songs. One day, out of absentmindedness, he fell into a deep and muddy pit and got stuck. Unable to get out of the pit, the fox helplessly began to wait there. After a while, hundreds of hungry small flies surrounded the fox.
The flies hurt the fox a lot, and the sly animal was constantly moaning in pain. Meanwhile, a soft-hearted hedgehog passing by with slow steps noticed the fox. Seeing the poor fox's sad condition, the hedgehog worried very much for him. Approaching the fox, he stopped, adjusted his spiky back, and spoke in a sweet voice. "My friend, these flies are bothering you a lot, allow me to chase them away," he said. The fox raised his head with a deep sigh and looked carefully at the hedgehog. "Thank you for your kind offer, but please do not touch the flies," he replied.
The hedgehog was very surprised by this answer and curiously asked why. In a weak tone of voice, the fox wisely began to explain the situation to the hedgehog. "These flies on me are already full, they no longer hurt me as much as before," he said. "If you chase them away, new hungry and more ruthless flies will come in their place," he added. "Then I will completely lose what little strength I have left," he said, taking a deep breath. The hedgehog admired the clever fox's intelligence in the face of these logical words. In order to help him, he immediately passed through the bushes and set off on the forest path.
