The Fishermen and the Big Fish
Fishermen pulling a large net in the sea surrounded hundreds of fish, big and small, under the water. Seeing the net slowly being pulled ashore, the fish began fleeing in great fear and panic. Proud of his impressive and large body, the big fish tried to slip through the meshes of the net but could not fit into the holes. The tiny and thin fish easily slipped through the small loops of the net and escaped into the deep waters.
The large fish could not pass through the net's holes, got trapped, and fell into the fishermen's hands as prey. While the big fish was caught because of his size and showiness, the small fish survived thanks to the advantage of appearing insignificant. Being big and showy does not always provide an advantage; sometimes being humble and small protects from disasters. In times of danger, humility and smallness can open a door to salvation.
Smallness sometimes brings safety. Bigness does not always protect. The humble slips away from disaster. Showiness attracts danger.
The small passes through the narrow gate. When size heavy, escape becomes difficult. Safety lies in humility.
