The Fisherman and the Octopus
Once upon a time, on the shore of deep blue seas, there was a very charming fisherman's village. An old fisherman with a heart full of love lived peacefully in this village. Every morning early, he sailed out to sea in his small wooden boat, seeking his fortune from the wind. On another such sunny day, he gently lowered his fishing rod into the deep, cool waters. The sea was very calm today, but his fishing rod suddenly grew heavy and began to be pulled quickly.
When the old fisherman pulled his nets with great excitement, his eyes opened wide in amazement. At the end of the fishing line stood a huge eight-armed octopus with intelligent eyes. The octopus spoke like a human, saying, "Please set me free, old fisherman." "If you spare my life, I will show you the place of the sweetest fortunes beneath the sea." The fisherman could not bear to harm this intelligent creature and gently released it back into the cool waters. Before diving into the depths, the octopus whispered, "Tomorrow come beside the foamy rocks."
The next day, when the fisherman went to the place mentioned, the octopus greeted him joyfully. Pointing with its arms, the octopus showed him the secret spot where silver-colored fish swam. That day the fisherman filled his boat with delicious fish, but took only as much as he needed. Releasing the remaining fish back into the sea and thanking the octopus, he returned to his village happily. Thanks to this act of kindness, the fisherman never faced hunger or hardship again. The intelligent octopus and the old fisherman became the closest two friends of the sea for years.
Compassion shown to nature and living beings always brings abundance and peace to a person. One good turn deserves another.
