The Fisherman

Level A1 · 135 words

The Fisherman

A fisherman comes to the seashore. The fisherman holds a nice flute in his hand. The weather is sunny. The sea is calm. The fisherman sits on the rock.

The fisherman plays a sweet melody. Cheerful sounds spread over the water. The fisherman looks into the sea. The fish swim slowly in the water. But none of them come out of the water. No fish dance on the land.

The fisherman stops playing the flute. He throws his big net into the sea. He waits a little and pulls the net. There are hundreds of fish inside the net. The fisherman lays the net on the shore. The fish jump and struggle on the land.

The fisherman looks at the fish and laughs. "You did not dance while I played," he says. "Why do you jump so much now?"

Ill-timed joy struggles on the shore.
