The Feast Day and the Day After
Once upon a time, at the edge of an old forest where cool waters gurgled, lived a cheerful village. A young fox named Alaz, living near this village, always dreamed of satisfying his hunger the easy way. The villagers decorated the square with colorful fabrics for the great festival celebration and began cooking delicious meals. The aroma of roasted meats and sweets rising from the cauldrons spread deep into the forest. Smelling the scent, Alaz silently approached the village square with sparkling eyes and set his sights on the grand feast.
Throughout the festival day, festive songs were sung in the square and magnificent banquet tables were set up. Alaz snatched the tasty morsels falling from the tables and ate non-stop until he was completely full. An old and wise badger approached him and gave a warning in a soft voice. "Today you are having fun with the excitement of the festival, but you should also save some food for tomorrow," said the wise badger. Intoxicated by the festival, Alaz laughed and ignored the badger's valuable advice. "How meaningless it is to think of tomorrow while enjoying today," he said, continuing to play.
All night long, he ran around the banquet tables, eating and drinking to the last drop of his strength. Even when the sun set and darkness fell, he continued the fun without minding his stomach ache. When he woke up the next morning, there was neither joyful music nor delicious food left in the festival square. The villagers had withdrawn to their homes, leaving behind only empty cauldrons and cold ashes blown by the wind. Left with an empty stomach and squirming from exhaustion, Alaz ran left and right helplessly searching for food.
However, where the tables overflowing with abundance stood until yesterday, a harsh north wind was now blowing. Yesterday's irresponsible fun gave way to exhaustion and relentless hunger. Temporary pleasures enjoyed without thinking of the future leave a person helpless before the harsh realities of the next day. Sweet eating leads to bitter burping.
