The Farmer and the Wolf
At hot noon a hard-working farmer ploughed his field. He was tired and unhooked his oxen. He took the oxen to the stream. The heavy wooden plough stayed in the field. A hungry wolf came out of the near forest. It walked up to the farmer's plough. It began to smell the leather straps.
The wolf looked for food between the straps. It pushed its head into the wooden yoke. But its head stuck in the hard yoke. The wolf got scared and pulled back. It began to drag the heavy plough. It stumbled around the field in a funny way.
The farmer came back and saw this. He began to laugh very loudly. "Oh, thief wolf, plough my field!" the farmer said. The wolf got free and ran to the forest. The farmer fixed his plough and worked again.
Bad animals do not change easily.
A leopard cannot change its spots.
