The Farmer and the Snake

There was an old farmer. The winter was very cold. One snowy day he went outside. He saw a frozen, still snake. The farmer felt very sorry.

He carried it home carefully. He laid it near the fire. The warm fire quickly heated it. Soon the snake came alive. Suddenly it rose and attacked. It attacked the farmer's little children.

The farmer was very surprised. He quickly took a big stick. He killed the snake with it. The children escaped a great danger. Now the farmer knew its evil heart.

Kindness to the wicked is not wise.

No good deed goes unpunished.
